Costume Designers Guild 2017 Nominations: 15 Films Included, What Was Snubbed?

The Costume Designers Guild (CDG) announced their film and TV nominations for 2017 on Wednesday, honoring the best Costume Designers, Assistant Costume Designers and Costume Illustrators in the industry, as voted on by the industry. This is considered the biggest precursor to getting an Oscar nomination for Best Costume Design, but it can be tough to narrow down considering there are three categories for film and 15 different movies nominated. Both film and television are broken up into period costumes, sci-fi/fantasy costumes and contemporary costumes.

The 15 movies represented at the CDG Awards include Beauty and the Beast, Blade Runner 2049, Dunkirk, Get Out, The Greatest Showman, I, Tonya, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Lady Bird, Murder on the Orient Express, Phantom Thread, The Shape of Water, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Thor: Ragnarok and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Notable snubs here include the showy work of period films like Darkest Hour and Victoria & Abdul. Films have gotten in at the Oscars without a CDG nomination in the past, but it is a tough battle.

The CDG Awards will take place Feb. 20. Check out the full list of CDG nominations for 2017 below:
