Producers Guild of America Awards 2018 Documentary Nominations Include ‘RBG,’ ‘Three Identical Strangers,’ & More

The Producers Guild of America (PGA) announced their nominees for Outstanding Producer of Documentary Motion Pictures Tuesday, listing seven films in total. The producers have not yet been vetted by the guild, but the films nominated are as follows:

  • The Dawn Wall
  • Free Solo
  • Hal
  • Into the Okavango
  • RBG
  • Three Identical Strangers
  • Won’t You Be My Neighbor?

As the parade of documentary awards continues, we have seen many of these films like Free Solo, Three Identical Strangers and Won’t You Be My Neighbor? do very well in precursors. But take caution against calling any of these films locks for an Oscar nomination. We saw just last year how Jane led all docs throughout award season only to not even be nominated at the Oscars.

The rest of the PGA nominees, for Theatrical Motion Pictures, Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures, Television Series/Specials, Limited Series Television, Streamed/Televised Movies, and Sports, Children’s and Short Form Programs, will be announced Jan. 4, 2019. The Producers Guild of America Awards ceremony will take place Jan. 19.
